Dr. Victor J. Mazza , a trusted cardiologist in Hackensack NJ, was born and raised in Nutley, New Jersey. He has been practicing Cardiology and Electrophysiology since 2010. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular disease, and Electrophysiology. He received his medical degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine. Dr. Mazza completed his Internal Medicine residency, Chief residency and Cardiology Fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. His second fellowship, in Electrophysiology, was completed at Temple University in Philadelphia.
His dual fellowships and advanced training, allow him to take care of and manage patients covering the full spectrum of cardiovascular conditions - general cardiology Hackensack NJpatients trust and advanced electrophysiology care (see list of common disorders below). He has received numerous honors and awards. 2006- Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for Humanism, as well as being selected as one of New Jersey’s and Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors. Dina Abukharma APN is a Board Certified Acute Care Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner supporting patients at our cardiology Hackensack NJ practice. She completed her nursing degree at Holy Name School of Nursing. After completion of that program she proceeded to achieve her Bachelor’s Science of Nursing degree at Chamberlain University. She has over 7 years experience as a Registered Nurse working primarily in the cardiac step-down units, ICU, and Cardio-Thoracic ICU in Hackensack Medical Center. During this time, she advanced her education to obtain her Master’s Degree in Acute Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner through Seton Hall University.
Dina's passion for cardiology led her to begin her NP career in the Heart Failure program at Morristown Medical Center. Dina has a strong passion for acute and chronic heart disease prevention and processes. She has a vast understanding of acute care/cardiogenic shock management with mechanical circulatory devices including: ECMO, Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon pump, and Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD).
Dina also developed a robust understanding of the management and care of patients with chronic cardiac devices including pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (CRT), Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM-Optimizer), and CardioMEMS (Pulmonary Artery Sensor). Her experience with advanced heart failure therapies and critical care has enhanced her commitment to collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
As a dedicated nurse practitioner, Dina's goal is to be a key educator, helping patients understand their conditions, create lifestyle changes, and build a rapport with patients to improve cardiac care and improve patient outcomes.
Dawn Straniero APN is a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. She completed her early nursing education at Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1987. She went on to achieve her
Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1992 and her Masters of Science degree as an Adult Nurse Practitioner at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2009.
Her career consisted of many years in the emergency department at Hackensack University Medical Center as well as several years working at Heartcare Center for a team of interventional cardiologists affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center. The team included the Director of the Cardiac Care Unit and Director of Cardiac CT Division of Cardiac Services at HUMC.
The office provided routine cardiac care, stress testing, echo stress testing, bubble study echocardiograms and post cardiac procedure management. Dawn has a comprehensive understanding of acute and chronic cardiac disease, cardiac preventative medicine as well as extensive experience educating patients and their families to improve cardiac outcomes.
